According to the BBC's website, A prisoner jailed for drug offences breaks out of prison because he couldn't stand the amount of drugs inside.

A judge has ordered an inquiry at a Lincolnshire prison after an inmate claimed he escaped to avoid drugs.

Robert Parkinson, 29, escaped from North Sea Camp jail in Frieston, near Boston after being jailed for breaching a drug treatment and testing order.

Parkinson handed himself in at Grantham police station the following day. Judge John Machin told Lincoln Crown Court there had been a "worrying pattern" of similar allegations for two years and ordered an investigation.

The court heard how Parkinson, of Shakespeare Avenue, Grantham, had been jailed for nine months in December 2005 and began his sentence in Lincoln Prison, a Category B jail, but was transferred to North Sea Camp in January.

Phil Howes, prosecuting, said Parkinson was offered drugs by other inmates but wanted to remain drugs-free and so simply walked out and went to Grantham.

Parkinson's absence was not noticed until officers took the 10pm roll-call.

He admitted a charge of escaping from lawful custody and was remanded back into custody after Judge Machin adjourned the case.

The judge told Parkinson he wanted inquiries into drug use at the jail to be carried out before he passed sentence.
